The links below will lead you to authentic vintage garments made and worn in Japan that we have for sale. These include kimono, haori, and obi. These are vintage garments with all the signs and stories of their previous lives with their Japanese owner which may include small age spots, stains, or signs of wear. I will describe any of these as best I can. Most of these garments are from the Showa Period (1926 – 1989) although some are from the Taisho Period (1912 – 1926). I’ve found the majority of kimono to be between 40 – 60 years old. We update our catalog once or twice a month so if you’d like us to notify you when we add new photos, please click here to sign our mailing list. In the subject line write ‘Subscribe’. ·        Kimono –A combination of Men's, Women's and Children's ‘everyday’ kimono (fudangi), ‘visiting’ kimono (homongi) and formal kimono (tomesode). These are popular robes for lounging as well as with collectors or for display. We do not carry fancy uchikake and other wedding kimono. As each garment was custom made for the wearer, there are no standard sizes in these garments although women’s tend to run small across the chest. We give individual measurements for each garment.

·        Haori Men's and Women's short silk jackets that were originally worn over the longer kimono. These make great jackets to dress up a casual outfit or to compliment an already dressy outfit. Because the seams are blind-stitched on these garments, they can also be worn inside out to show off a dramatic lining. The men’s linings can be quite dramatic. Some haori have their original ties called kumihimo, which are made by braiding silk threads in various patterns.

·        Obi Long, wide and stiff sashes that were originally tied on top of kimono to secure it. Obi come in a wide variety of colors and designs and can be a stunning feature in home décor as table runners, wall hangings or pieced in pillows.
